Making a Return Visit to the Hospital

On Mother and Daddy's last cruise... she went to the Kincade Auction Night without Daddy, but with the credit card.  He had already told her that if she saw something that she really wanted, just go ahead and get it.  Now, I have been on one cruise, I know that stuff runs anywhere from $300 up.  We all know that Kincade is gone now, and even his lithographs are expensive.

Mom had fun!  She told Daddy that everything would be shipped to the house in one tube.  The frames could be gotten later.

"Everything"?  "What?"

She had gotten a deal on five Thomas Kincade Lithographs.  They came with papers and everything.  Mother was so excited!  Little did she realize, to have them framed where the special authentication markings and titles showed that they would all have to go through a frame shop somewhere.

What did she need with five of these??  She planned to give one to each of her daughters, and hang a couple in the house.  You need to understand that most every wall in the house is already full.  Was this really necessary?  I for one, didn't really have a lot of space either, and these were rather large.  Ok...whatever.

Time passes, you know the story if you have been reading this blog.  It has been little over two months now and it still seems so unreal and yet we are all learning to make a new normal.  For those that are praying for us, please continue to do so.  We are still on a roller coaster, but the ups and downs are a bit further apart.

We are so So SO happy that she got those Kincades!  That was her last big expenditure with her family in mind.

Daddy, Patti and I took an afternoon and headed to Michaels Arts & Crafts.  They are one of our local art stores and are the only one that runs discounts on the entire special order on framing.  Plus they take competitor coupons.  So, we got 60% off, plus and additional 25% off the total after that.  Then, they tossed in a name plate for free.  Now, if you know my sister and I, you know how frugal we are.  Daddy was gonna have a hefty bill and we were determined to save as much as we could.  Each one of of us, with the help of the others, picked out our own mat colors and frames.

In the end, it all turned out great!

This one is Daddy's.  He said that Mom's favorite color was purple.  My thought was ... on a huge picture in your living room?  But, it looks great!!!  These are huge!  This is the largest one at over 3 feet.

This one hangs in my dining room.  It has a foresty green mat.  It isn't his normal cottage or lighthouse, but a reflecting street scene.

(picture coming soon)

This is the one that Patti picked, and the colors go great in her home.  She has one of the two smaller ones.  With four kids, and four great grandkids, her walls are full of pictures.  So, this one being smaller was great for her.

This is the last of the three large ones and will eventually make it across the country to my Mother's sister, Pat.  It will hang over a long sofa style table that belonged to their Mother.  Hope she likes the mat and frame that we picked out for her.

This is the other smaller one.  Now, do you get the idea of how large these things are?!  OMGosh!  But, doesn't my sweet Daddy just look so great in this picture?!  This one is going to be hung in the nurse's lounge of the 11th Floor at Medical City in Dallas.  The 11th Floor is where my Mother spent her last few days on this Earth.  The nurses there were so great!  We couldn't think of a better place to donate one in her memory!

I can tell that we are beginning to heal.  We smiled a lot, talked to folks about our loss and the life that Mother lead while she was here, and then we did a bit of goofing off. You might ask you goof off at a hospital...

Yeppers... that is me.

This is my sister, Patti.  We are looking up at the mirrored ceiling taking our own pictures.  It was her idea, she is older and it is all her fault.  Though, I must admit, we had fun!!!  There was a glass wall between us and the eating area, they were all enjoying it.  So, we made folks smile and wonder anyway.  Oh, and my dad even got in on it!

So now you all know.  We got our craziness from our parents, both of them!!!

I asked Daddy if he knew what photo bombing was.  I can tell you by his answer... he didn't!

First shot at photo bombing!  Blurred, so we staged one.  Not as good of a reaction, but it was still fun.

I think that we will go back to the hospital again sometime next month, just to make sure that the Memorial gets hung up.  Patti asked Daddy if he had been to the Children's Building up there.  So, guess we will be there with cameras on our next visit.  Not sure if I will share those here or not, you can count on seeing them on our facebook pages though.

So, be sure to leave us some comments.  The family would love to hear from you.  Thank you so much for your prayers!
